UWSAG talks to Kady Harrington
of Wytoka American Hairless Terriers

Owner: Wytoka American Hairless Terriers
Winner: UWSAG Top Ten! for October, 2003

  1. What got you started in website design?

Wytoka American Hairless Terriers "In 1995 I did what most people proud of their hobbies or families do – I made a website to show them off. It was maybe not the ugliest thing, but it sure was a masterpiece of almost everything you can do wrong! But it did spark a fascination with the possibilities web design offered, my desire to learn everything I could and an appreciation for continuing that education every day and applying it to my own work."

  2. What do you hope to accomplish with your website?
    Kady Harrington
"Primarily provide an educational, free and friendly resource to people new to the American Hairless Terrier breed as well as a useful resource for more experienced breeders and dog lovers in general. My goal is to see it continue to expand with new and fresh information."

  3. What advice would you give other webmasters?

"Don’t be afraid of asking for feedback and don’t take criticism personally – use it. I am SO glad that there were more experienced people than I willing to tell me what they saw as needing improvement and what I was doing right. You may not always agree with something for your particular site, but you can always learn something new."

  4. What was the biggest problem you faced with your website?

"Navigation! LOL. As the site grew it became harder and harder to get a solid, easy navigation system without letting it be too bulky or too hard for people to use. I’m still improving that."

  5. If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently?

"Probably not a thing. Don’t get me wrong…there’s be some very frustrating moments. But I think I earned some very valuable experience in how I did do it that will be an asset to other websites I design."

  6. What plans do you have for the future?

"Well, certainly continue my web design work – I enjoy seeing it improve and really love doing it. My experience with the award programs have been very positive for the most part and ultimately I’d love to launch my own award program, though that is a bit into the future ."

  7. What else do you like to do?

"I read voraciously. I love to learn about all kinds of things and really enjoy being introduced to new ideas. Of course we (my husband and I) are involved with our dogs and in competition with them. And also we have several retired racehorses we are home to – I love spending time with them."
